Breakfast in London
We took the train up to London to renew the wife’s Passport at the Embassy in Kensington.
This called for an early start. So by the time it was all over I was ready for a good coffee and a late breakfast.. My first find on Google Maps was closed, sitting out the pandemic.
But around the corner and a little further down the road she paused at a doorway draped with garlands of pretty pink roses.
You don’t want to argue with her.
Not before she has eaten. I have learnt this the hard way and I nodded without much enthusiasm. To be greeted, with a sinking heart, by yet more flowers, white table cloths, cake stands and floral tea sets.
But I couldn’t have been more wrong. What looked like a sugar coated traditional English tea shop was in fact started and run by the Palestinian owner, specialising in Middle Eastern dishes and offering the best full English breakfast in London’s inner city.
Although that is just a guess.
One based on my breakfast croissant, scrambled egg and halloumi cheese, followed by the tastiest lentil soup that I was not expecting to be as tasty as it was.
